According to FishBase there are 73 species of clinids in 20 genera. Wikipedia is a little more liberal with 83 species in 20 genera.

The blennoids are found in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans where they are typically temperate species although a few make it into the tropics.

My only experience with t+he family is the crested weedfish which is remarkably cryptic. Even though I was lucky enough to find this one in the "open" it is still hard to discern (but I have been told I am not discerning - so there you go ...)
