Family Sebastidae |
Fishbase lists 132 species in 7 genera. Rockfish as a group are to be steered clear of - they have venomous dorsal, anal and pelvic spines. They live in coastal waters, often to substantial depths and there may be many species in the same area - suggesting a substantial degree of niche separation. Many of the North Pacific species are viviparous.
